Indian Singers' Rights Association (ISRA) is the Registered Copyright Society of Singers in India (Performers Right Society for Singers in India) and was incorporated as a Company Limited by Guarantee under the Companies Act, 1956 on 3rd May, 2013 and is a non-profit making body. Post the Copyright (Amendment) Act 2012, under the Chairmanship of Bharat Ratna Ms. Lata Mangeshkar, ISRA (Indian Singers' Rights Association) ISRA filed for Registration as a Copyright Society as per Section 33 of the Copyright Act and received its Certificate of Registration from the Central Government on 14th June, 2013 which was renewed by the Central Government wef 14th June, 2018 for a further period of 5 years ending 13th June, 2023. As a result, We have the pleasure to inform you that We, The Indian Singers’ Rights Association (ISRA) are now the ONLY Registered Copyright Society in India for Singers. The Central Government has registered ISRA vide Registration No. P.R.S. – 01/2013 as a Performer’s Society (Copyright Society) under Section 33 (3) of the Copyright Act, 1957 and thereby permitted to commence & carry-on the copyright business in Performers’ Rights of Singers and other activities ancillary thereto. This registration has been granted wef 14th June, 2013 for a period of 5 years. This Registration was renewed by the Central Govt. wef 14th June, 2018 for another period of 5 years. By virtue of the provisions post the 2012 Amendments, it is now stipulated that one would require a clearance from the Singers’ Copyright Society – ISRA and pay Royalty to play/use/utilize/perform film and/or non-film songs, Indian and/or International Songs containing performances of all ISRA Members and those of its affiliated Societies
